Hi there,
This issue's tip: wait on the extras
Registry lists suggest dozens of gadgets. Most babies need a safe place to sleep, a car seat, diapers, clothes and feeding supplies. Hold off on the rest until you know your baby's routine. You may never need the wipe warmer.

Great secondhand: clothes
Babies outgrow newborn sizes in weeks. Secondhand clothes are often barely worn. Wash before use, and check for loose buttons. The one item to be careful with: car seats. Only use a secondhand seat if you know its full history and it isn't expired. See Baby gear: new or used?
Reader question
"How long do I have to add my baby to my health insurance?" Employer plans usually give you 30 days from the birth, and Marketplace plans usually give you 60 days. Check your plan's exact deadline now. See Add your baby to health insurance.
Warmly,
